Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Threshold, consistent with the age requirement of the Discogs API that Threshold relies on to identify and catalogue records.

What Threshold is

Threshold is a personal vinyl and digital record collection manager for DJs and collectors. It helps you catalogue, tag, and organize your own collection, and identify records and tracks using third-party services (Discogs, ACRCloud, Anthropic, Deezer — see the Privacy Policy for details on each).

Connections & Recommendations

Threshold lets you privately connect with another collector you already know, in person, by scanning a QR code or exchanging a short single-use code — there is no way to find or connect with someone through Threshold itself. Once connected, either of you may recommend a record to the other; recommending a record shares that record's basic information (artist, title, catalog number, label) with the recipient, who may choose to add it to their own collection.

A recommendation you send is a gift, not a loan: once received, it becomes part of the recipient's own collection history, and remains theirs regardless of anything that later happens to your account or your connection with them. Ending a connection is available to either person at any time, for any reason, without the other's consent — it stops new recommendations between you but never affects anything already sent or received.

This feature is for sharing music with people you actually know. You agree not to use it to contact, connect with, or send unsolicited material to strangers, or to attempt to build a public-facing profile, directory, or storefront out of it.

You're responsible for what you send through Connections & Recommendations. The same acceptable-use rules that apply everywhere else in Threshold apply here too — don't send anything abusive, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate.

Your account

Creating an account is optional, though connecting with other collectors and sending recommendations requires one. If you sign in, you're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that does and does not remove, including recommendations a recipient has already added to their own collection.

Acceptable use

Threshold is intended for personal cataloguing of records you own or are considering acquiring. You agree not to:

• Use Threshold to scrape, republish, or resell data from Discogs or any other integrated third-party service outside of what Threshold itself displays to you for personal use.
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or access controls on Threshold or the third-party services it connects to.
• Use Threshold for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes the rights of others.

Metered features

Track ID has a monthly usage limit. During BETA, that limit is set generously for testing purposes and is higher than what's planned for public release — it's a BETA privilege, not a guarantee of the limit available afterward. Scan (label recognition) is not metered. We'll note any change to these limits in the app's "What's New" section.

Third-party services

Threshold integrates with third-party services to provide its features. Threshold is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Discogs, ACRCloud, Anthropic, Deezer, Google, or Apple. Each service's own terms and privacy policy apply to data processed through it. See our Privacy Policy for the full list.

Intellectual property

Threshold and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Static Channel and protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. Data sourced from Discogs and other third-party services remains the property of its respective rights holders.

No warranty

Threshold is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee that record identification, pricing data, or track matching will always be accurate — these depend on third-party services outside our control. Use your own judgment, especially before making purchase decisions based on data shown in the app.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Threshold and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including inaccuracies in third-party data.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Threshold after a change means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes will be noted in the app's "What's New" section.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the registered home state of Static Channel LLC, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Venue and dispute-resolution provisions are still being finalized with counsel and will be updated here before Threshold's public store release.
